Editorial
Welcome to the first edition of Imago Dei in fifteen months. In that time, the Dignitatis Humanae Institute has overseen the setting up of a new office in Rome, complete with a new team. I should like to thank the former editor of Imago Dei, Ingrid Grosu, for her dedicated assistance in Recent months have revealed a British government of two personalities: on one side we have a government that values the role of faith in the community, and sees the family as the core of society. The latest demonstration of this came from Conservative Party chairman Baroness Warsi who, during a visit to the Holy See in February, highlighted Christianity's historic contribution to the UK. And yet, the British government's actions reveal a stark contrast: a government that has recently voted down attempts to provide better counselling for pregnant women considering abortion; a government that is failing to act against the 'baby-steps' towards legalised euthanasia; and a government that would seek to deny Christians from wearing a symbol of faith at work. We hope the present court case regarding the right to wear a crucifix at work is brought to a positive conclusion. On this issue, Imago Dei welcomes the personal stance of the Prime Minister who is to be congratulated, encouraged and wholeheartedly supported for the line in the sand he has drawn against militant secularism. The coalition government he leads would do well to follow his example.
