We are writing to invite you to the 2nd International Conference on Human Dignity,which this year will be held at the home of the Pontifical Academy for Social Sciences, at the Casina Pio IV, in the serene grounds of the Vatican City State, on Friday, 28 June 2013.
The title of the Conference, which is being generously supported by the ECPM and the Novae Terrae Foundation, is: “Squeezed between European and national legal orders: Is there room for Christianity?”
The conference programme is available on our website, as are all other details regarding the conference – or alternatively, please contact the office for further details. It is important to note, because of the security
demands regarding the venue, all participants must register in advance. We are expecting attendance to be very high, with politicians, NGOs, clergy and academics from all over Europe already confirmed.
The Dignitatis Humanae Institute was formed in the European Parliament in 2008 as a reaction to the rising militant secularism seen in Europe today, and it exists to do three things. The first is to promote recognition of the reality that Man is made in the image and likeness of God. The second is to insist that this image and likeness is present in every single human person from conception until natural death. The third is to suggest that the best means of authentically promoting this recognition is through the active participation of the Christian Faith in the public square.

Le scriviamo questa lettera per invitarla alla Seconda Conferenza Internazionale dell’Istituto Dignitatis Humanae, che si terrà quest’anno, Venerdì 28 giugno, nella suggestiva sede dell’Accademia Pontificia della Scienze Sociali, la Casina Pio IV situata all’interno della Città del Vaticano.
Il convegno, che è generosamente sostenuto da ECPM e dalla Fondazione Novae Terrae, in questa edizione vuole approfondire un tema a nostro giudizio molto attuale che si sviluppa nel titolo dell’incontro: “Schiacciato tra gli ordinamenti europei e le costituzioni nazionali: c’è posto per il Cristianesimo?

E’ fondamentale precisare, che per motivi di sicurezza legati alla location in sede Vaticana, tutti i partecipanti devono necessariamente registrarsi in anticipo.
Ci attendiamo una partecipazione di alto profilo. Ci saranno politici, rappresentanti delle principali ONG, esponenti del mondo cattolico e accademici che da tutta Europa hanno già confermato la loro presenza.
L’Instituto Dignitatis Humanae, formato all’interno del Parlamento Europeo nel 2008 come reazione all’insorgere del secolarismo militante che è molto presente oggi in Europa si fonda su tre pilastri principali. Il primo, vuole promuovere la consapevolezza di riconoscere che L’uomo è fatto ad immagine e somiglianza di Dio. Il secondo, insiste sul fatto che questa immagine e somiglianza è presente in ogni singola persona, dal concepimento fino alla sua naturale morte. Il terzo è quello di suggerire che l’autentico modo per promuovere questo riconoscimento è attraverso la partecipazione della fede cristiana alla vita pubblica e sociale.
