Prayer Page

On these pages we invite you to pray for members being helped by our Working Groups and outreach programmes.

Each of these partners is helping to restore the human dignity of the world’s most vulnerable people or defend their human dignity from attacks through legislation.

We ask you to kindly pray for those being helped by our outreach partner Friends of the Children of Tanzania which offers invaluable help to disabled and vulnerable children in the country’s north west Kagera region.

You may wish to use this prayer, and ask for the intercession of St. Seraphina, patron saint of the disabled.

Prayer for the Disabled

God of compassion, in Jesus Christ you cared for those who were blind or deaf,
crippled or slow to learn.
Though all of us need help,
give special care to those who are disabled,
particularly those we name in silence…
By our concern may they know the love you have for them,
and come to trust you;
through Jesus Christ who came to heal.

Amen

What they say about the DHI…

  • It is important — in fact, I would say necessary — to promote a recognition of man’s infinite dignity based on the fact that human beings are made in the image and likeness of God. This is what the Universal Declaration of Human Dignity, the intellectual basis of all our work, sets out so well. I have said elsewhere that we must thank God for this gift, for making us in his image and likeness. Because it is a great gift that goes to the heart of our faith Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino
